There’s something magical about a crisp white button-down, isn’t there? Clean lines, timeless vibes, and the power to instantly make you feel like you’ve got your life together—at least from the outside.😅

So when Tami announced the new Bluegrass Buttondown, I knew I had to make the classic of all classics: a white shirt with pearl buttons and no distractions. No yoke, no pockets. Just sleek, structured, and elegant simplicity.

But before I get into how I styled it, here’s a quick look at the pattern itself:

The Bluegrass Button-Down from Love Notions is a shirt and dress pattern, meant for wovens and designed for versatility and style. It features shaping princess seams, optional yoke and pockets, and beautiful cuffs with tower plackets. Perfect for making it your own, whether you prefer clean minimalism or all the fun western-vibes details.

This pattern has that chef’s kiss blend of tailored and approachable. The princess seams give it a beautiful shape without clinging, and those cuff details? Swoon. I used pearl buttons for mine because sometimes the little things are what make it feel luxe—and I wanted this shirt to feel a bit fancy, but still wearable.

I paired it with jeans for a smart casual look (and because comfort is key these days), but I also styled it with wide-leg black pants and a statement belt for a more put-together vibe. It works for everything from meetings to casual dinners—or even just those days when you need a confidence boost without sacrificing comfort. It’s polished, but not fussy.

This is the kind of piece that slides seamlessly into a capsule wardrobe. It plays well with everything and can go from tucked-in professional to relaxed and casual in a snap. Honestly, I already want a chambray one next… and maybe a stripe?

I love the sleek look of the plain version. I’m also am smitten with the bells and whistles western vibe one. I have plans, but life has gotten in the way. My husband had to go through a surgery and that has taken all my time. He’s now home and doing well, so things will slowly go back to normal. 🙂

The fabric I used is a white shirting cotton that I got from the local brick-and-mortar shop before they closed (still miss them so much 😞). Jeans and belt are store-bought and wide pants are my favorite dramatic palazzos.
